INTERVIEWING:
• What seven items should you bring with you when you are shooting an interview?

Tape
Tripod
Microphone

Light source
• Shooting into a light source = silhouette
Button to adjust = backlight buttom (dims the background light)
• Where do you want your light source? behind you
• On what object should you focus the camera? nose.
• No tripod= bad.
• Date and Time= permanently recorded on your tape. dont ever do that.
• What's the difference between SP/EP? SP= standard play. EP= extended play.
• Camera shoots in _SP_.
• Pre-Roll- 2-3 seconds before you start your interview.
• Post-Roll- 2-3 seconds after you end your interview.
CAMERA SHOTS:
***BACKGROUND: dynamic = has depth, not plain. interviewee is at least 6-8 feet from a wall. interviewee is the shot.
• 1 Shot= middle of the chest to above the head.
• 1 Shot with graphic= a one shot panned to the side to make room for a graphic.
• 2 Shot= 2 people ( show only )
• CU- close up
• MS- medium shot.
• LS- long shot
• ECU- extreme close up.
• Rule of thirds- imaginary lines are drawn dividing image into thirds
CAMERA MOVEMENTS:
• Tilt- moving the camera lens higher or lower.
• Pan- moving the camera left and/or right.
• Zoom- getting closer or father away (focal length) from your subject matter.
• Dolly- camera that psychically moves following live action.
LIGHTS
• Key- the bright light that shines on the subject (brightest light)
• Fill- fills in the shadows.
• Back- separates a person from the background.
MICROPHONES:
• Unidirectional- microphone goes in one direction.
• Omnidirectional- every direction. used in cameras.
• Cardiod- unidirectional with a little more width. what most of the studio microphones are.
• Lav/Lapel Microphone-clip on.
• Boom Microphone- on a pole that can be dropped into an area to get sound. unidirectional/cardiod.
